So you have to go to the airport and don’t want to take public transportation or rely on a friend. Where do you park?

Until now, your options were the Extended Lot if your trip was going to be a while or one of the off-site parking lots with shuttle service.

Starting on June 7, you have a new place to park that’s cheap and convenient — and lets you get some exercise.

The new $7-per-day Economy Lot is adjacent to the Extended Lot but does not include shuttle service. If you choose the lowest-cost option, you have to take about a 10-minute walk to the terminal’s moving walkway, according to the Allegheny County Airport Authority, which announced the start of the service on its Blue Sky website.

The Extended Lot will continue to offer shuttle service at $9 per day.

“The profile of our traveler is changing based on the recovery of leisure travel and the new, low-cost airlines flying out of PIT. We need to make sure we have a parking option to match,” Bryan Dietz, vice president of air service development at Pittsburgh International Airport, said in a statement.

To streamline access to all of the airport’s parking options, there is now only one main entrance to the lots from I-376.

In addition, pay stations have been added to the baggage claim area and along the moving walkway to speed up the payment and exiting process. Passengers still have the option to pay from their vehicle as they leave the lot.
